Android Question for the #hivemind
So What I REALLY need is a way to seamlessly sync text files with Dropbox on my Android. So far, it can’t be done. Here’s my setup:
- On my Mac, I have Notational Velocity set up to sync with a folder on Dropbox. If I’m writing something longer-form, I also have WriteRoom ( http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/products/writeroom) set up to read to/write from the same folder. Everything’s searchable, instantly redundantly saved/synched without me having to hit a save button, and life is good.
- On my iPad, I have a similar app ( http://www.secondgearsoftware.com/elements/) to do the same kind of thing.
- My new Android phone is the weak link. While I can VIEW the files from the Android Dropbox app, I can’t open/edit/save from there. I can download files from dropbox onto my SD card and then open them with any number of text editors (incidentally, AK Notepad is pretty nice), but the Share dialog doesn’t allow me to actually upload the files to dropbox (the error message is “Sorry, handling text uploads has not been implemented yet”). What I CAN do is save the text file to my SD card, and then using another app (OI File Manager) I can send it to Dropbox, but at that point it’s such a pain in the neck that I’m better off just emailing stuff to myself. What I want is what I have on my Mac/iOS, where the sync is something closer to seamless.
Can you think of any way to accomplish this?
